RISE Project Coordinator at Raleigh Tanzania
Role Description
The key purpose of the RISE Project Coordinator (PC) is to oversee Raleigh’s Rural Inclusive Sustainable Enterprises through Youth (RISE) project in Tanzania with support from the Programme Manager (PM).
The PC will be responsible for project implementation, coordinating with partner organisations, project delivery, project monitoring and evaluation, health & safety management, volunteer training and support, and budget management. The job demands frequent interaction with and provision of technical support to and from project partners. The PC is expected to effectively manage a dedicated team of local staff and volunteers.
About the RISE Project
By March 2022, Rural Inclusive Sustainable Livelihoods through youth (RISE) project will transform the enabling environment for youth livelihoods around Mkingu Forest (Mvomero – Morogoro), empowering up to 1,200 young people aged 15–24 and living on the periphery with the relevant skills, confidence, and structures they need to establish sustainable and successful enterprises. After participating in training workshops, young people will cascade their knowledge and skills on organic farming, sustainable fuel sources, tree planting, and micro-enterprise to a further 3,200 young people.
Through an integrated NRM and enterprise development approach, RISE seeks to empower eight communities on the periphery of the Mkingu Forest Nature Reserve to address both short and long-term factors of poverty and biodiversity loss. Utilising Raleigh’s curriculum, we will conduct a comprehensive entrepreneurship training programme for young entrepreneurs, supporting them throughout to establish their own green enterprises.
